Professional 64" UV-LED printer/cutter combining instant-cure UV printing, integrated contour cutting, white and clear ink capabilities, and advanced multilayer printing for high-impact signs, decals, window graphics, vehicle graphics, and specialty applications.

Characteristics

The Mimaki UCJV300-160 64" UV-LED Printer/Cutter is a professional wide-format production system that combines high-quality UV-LED printing and precision contour cutting in a single integrated platform.

Designed for sign shops, graphics producers, print service providers, and specialty graphics operations, the UCJV300-160 provides a maximum print and cut width of 63.4" (1,610 mm) and accommodates media up to 63.8" (1,620 mm) wide.

Unlike conventional solvent printing workflows that may require additional outgassing or drying time before finishing, the UCJV300-160 uses UV-LED curing technology to cure the ink during printing. Finished graphics can therefore move quickly into cutting, laminating, application, or other finishing operations.

One of the defining capabilities of the UCJV300 Series is its advanced multilayer printing technology. Depending on the ink configuration and application, the printer can produce 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-layer graphics, allowing shops to create sophisticated applications beyond conventional single-layer printing.

Four-layer Day & Night printing can be used to produce graphics designed to present different visual effects depending on whether they are front-lit or backlit. Five-layer printing expands creative possibilities further by enabling different graphics to be viewed from opposite sides of transparent media.

The UCJV300-160 supports white ink, allowing graphics to be produced on transparent and colored media where an opaque white layer can serve as a base, backing, or intermediate layer. Compatible configurations can also incorporate clear ink, expanding opportunities for specialty effects and enhanced graphic presentation.

Mimaki's UV-curable ink technology provides broad media versatility. Suitable applications can include vinyl, PET film, paper, banner material, fabrics, window films, wallpaper, labels, decals, vehicle graphics, posters, point-of-purchase displays, and other compatible roll media.

The machine uses two in-line on-demand piezo printheads and supports print resolutions of 300, 600, 900, and 1200 dpi, providing flexibility between production speed and detailed image quality.

In Mimaki USA's listed 4-color configuration, the UCJV300-160 provides print speeds of up to 195.9 square feet per hour, making it suitable for professional production environments handling both short-turnaround and ongoing graphics work.

Integrated contour cutting eliminates the need to transfer printed media to a separate cutting plotter for many print-and-cut applications. The cutting system provides up to 450 gf cutting pressure and supports a variety of blade types for different media and application requirements.

Mimaki's ID Cut workflow can further streamline print-and-cut production. Cut information can be incorporated into printed registration marks so compatible workflows can automatically retrieve the corresponding cutting data, reducing operator intervention when processing multiple jobs.

The UCJV300 Series also incorporates several Mimaki production technologies, including Nozzle Check Unit (NCU) and Nozzle Recovery System (NRS) functions designed to help monitor nozzle performance and maintain production when nozzle problems occur.

For U.S. and Canadian installations, Mimaki lists compatibility with LUS-170 and LUS-200 UV-curable inks. Available configurations provide CMYK printing as well as expanded capabilities using white and, with supported ink sets, clear and light-color inks.

LUS-200 is a flexible UV ink formulated for applications requiring increased flexibility and is particularly useful for graphics applied to curved surfaces, including compatible vehicle graphic applications.

With instant UV curing, integrated cutting, multilayer printing, white and clear ink capabilities, and a broad range of compatible media, the Mimaki UCJV300-160 provides a versatile production platform for shops looking to expand beyond traditional wide-format print-and-cut applications.

Usage Tips
  • Select the appropriate Mimaki-approved UV ink configuration for the intended application and media.
  • Test unfamiliar substrates before production to verify ink adhesion, flexibility, appearance, and durability.
  • Some substrates may require a primer or additional surface preparation for satisfactory adhesion.
  • Use white ink strategically when printing on transparent or colored media to improve opacity and color reproduction.
  • Use multilayer printing when producing backlit, transparent, or double-sided specialty graphics.
  • Configure the correct cut pressure and blade type for the media being processed.
  • Keep registration-mark areas clean and unobstructed when performing print-and-cut jobs.
  • Maintain the printheads, capping system, wipers, and other maintenance components according to Mimaki's recommended procedures.
  • Monitor ink condition and maintenance requirements when using white ink because white pigments require proper circulation and maintenance.
  • Maintain the printer within Mimaki's specified temperature and humidity range for consistent operation.
  • Allow adequate installation space around the machine for loading media, maintenance, and operator access.
  • Confirm electrical requirements before installation; the UCJV300-160 requires two power connections according to Mimaki's specifications.
  • Use genuine Mimaki inks and recommended maintenance supplies for the applicable ink configuration.
  • Follow all UV-light safety precautions and never look directly into the UV light source.
  • Verify media suitability before production because adhesion, flexibility, and weather resistance can vary significantly by substrate.
